Programs and Fun Events
We know it is important to still be kids. Our programs include creative activities, social visits, and family gathering that offer moments of laughter, joy, and normalcy during difficult times. Our Family Fun Events give families a chance to relax, connect and make lasting memories with others who truly get it.
Museum Passes:
We have ongoing membership passes to the Worcester Ecotarium and the Discovery Museum in Acton. The Ecotarium pass allows up to 5 visitors for free. The Discovery Museum pass will allow up to 15.

Summer Camp:
Held each summer, camp is open to Why Me children and siblings ages 5 and up. Each day has a fun theme. A typical camp day includes arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, snacks, lunch, and occasional special guest visitors.
Teen Group:
The teen group is a special program at Why Me. This group consists of teens who are or have battled cancer and their siblings. Teens in the group volunteer in various ways to support the organization and also get together for fun outings and team building activities. The group is led by our executive director, Rebecca Kuczarski.
Tickets/Group Outings:
Throughout the year Why Me receives tickets and invitations to various concerts, shows, athletic events and more. We are able to provide our families with a number fun and unique experiences. Some events are planned as group outings while others are available for individual participation.
Vacation Fun Days:
During school vacation weeks try to mix it up for you and offer a fun few hours for our child(ren). Whether a movie night, outings at a bowling alley or visitors to Sherry’s House – it is always fun to be around your fellow Why Me friends for a few hours.
Why Me Sib Squad:
Why Me recognizes that a cancer diagnosis can have profound effects on siblings. The Why Me Sib Squad is a way to acknowledge, support, and empower siblings for their vital role in the family. As a member of the Why Me Sib Squad, your child will receive mailings and acknowledgements at different points throughout the year.
Egg Hunt:
This event is typically held a week or two before Easter at Sherry’s House. The day includes snacks, pictures with the Easter bunny, crafts, games and an egg hunt for the children.
Bravehearts Baseball Game:
Join us for a fun day while taking in a Worcester Bravehearts baseball game at Holy Cross’s Fitton Field. The day includes a BBQ and pre-game activities on-site prior to the first pitch.
Carnival Day:
A fun family event with a “fair” type atmosphere. Day typically includes activities, games, DJ entertainment, food, and plenty of time to catch up with other Why Me families.
Spree Day:
Each fall the 200 Sportsmen’s Club hosts a Why Me family spree day at its site in Webster. Volunteers are on hand to assist children with the day’s activities including archery, fishing, wiffle ball and more. A BBQ lunch is provided. This event is always rain or shine.
Halloween Stroll:
The backyard at Sherry’s House is transforms each year for Halloween. Out Halloween Stroll is for all ages and fun for the whole family. Costumes are highly encouraged and evening includes a stroll around the decorated grounds with stops for activities along the way. Crafts take place inside and of course, you’ll leave with plenty of candy.
Holiday Party:
The Annual Holiday Party is our longest standing and largest family fun event. We invite families to meet and socialize during this festive holiday celebration, typically held at the Best Western Royal Trade Plaza in Marlborough. Attendees enjoy games, dancing, DJ entertainment, kazoo parade, crafts, teen activities, special character guest appearances, a lunch buffet, a performance by the Shepherd Hill show choir. Santa and Mrs. Claus deliver presents, pose for pictures and meet with each child.
